Longines Singapore Gold Cup donates $50,000 to Care Corner Educational Therapy Service in support of Children with Special Learning Needs

In just one year alone (FY 2011/2012), a total of 496 children with learning needs, together with their parents, benefitted from the specialist services provided by Care Corner Educational Therapy Service – i.e. ‘ETS’ a programme operated by Care Corner Family Service Centre (Woodlands).

ETS caters to children with learning difficulties such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (‘ADHD’), dyslexia, autism spectrum disorder, sensory processing disorder, developmental delay, reading difficulties as well as other learning difficulties.

Having to provide continued specialist care to these children has proven financially draining for these parents, not to mention the emotional and social challenges the families have to face in helping the child remain in the main stream education system.

It is no wonder that being selected by the Longines Singapore Gold Cup (organised by the Singapore Totalisator Board and Singapore Turf Club) as one of their 25 beneficiaries of a total donation of $1.5 million has been such a welcome support towards Care Corner’s ETS work with these children and their families.

On 11 November 2012, Guest-of-Honour Mr Bobby Chin, Tote Board Chairman, presided over a presentation ceremony for the selected beneficiaries. Among the attendees was ETS Centre Head, Mr Isaac Tan. Commented a grateful Mr Tan: “This support is indeed timely. In rendering specialist services to children with learning difficulties, we are often faced with challenges in finding sufficient donors to support shortfalls in this area of work which is very much in demand. We are very grateful to receive this donation of $50,000.”
